Hydrogen Powered Refinery taking Oil and Gas Industry to new heights in Texas

HOUSTON (KIAH) As the oil and gas capital of the world, Houston and the state of texas are no strangers to new innovations in the industry. In fact, they are known for creating the latest trends that change the industry. And that is happening once again, this time in South Texas.

Element Fuels, based out of Brownsville, Texas is a new Hydrogen Powered Refinery and combined-cycle power plant project. This new refinery, once completed, will be the first of its kind, built to exclusively process high gravity domestic shale oil – production low-carbon intensity fuels. The refinery can produce in excess of 6.7 million gallons, per day of finished gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, while leaving behind a smaller carbon footprint. This Permit for a greenfield refinery of this caliber has not been granted in the US since 1977. It will also produce numerous Energy jobs for the economy.
